Winter in Lignano Sabbiadoro lights up once again with the magic of its most awaited attraction. The monumental Sand Nativity<\/a><\/strong> <\/strong>returns, now in its 22nd edition<\/strong>. The work, the beating heart of the \u201cNatale d\u2019A…mare\u201d event calendar, is ready to enchant residents and visitors with a profound and current theme, capable of uniting Gospel tradition with contemporary reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official opening is set for Saturday, 6th December 2025<\/strong>, and the exhibition will remain open until Sunday, 1st February 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme: A dialogue between past and present<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The title chosen for the 2025\/2026 edition is \u201cMary, in the name of women. A feminine journey between the Gospels and our time<\/strong>\u201d. This year, the master sand sculptors will not limit themselves to representing the classical Nativity, but will create a narrative whose protagonist is Mary, a figure who spans the centuries and is brought to life in the eyes of the artists and the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition will be divided into two<\/strong> distinct but specular sections<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Tradition:<\/strong> A first part dedicated to the figure of Mary as portrayed in the Nativity Gospels, particularly those of Luke and Matthew.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The Contemporary:<\/strong> A second section offering a modern reinterpretation of the same Gospel episodes, interpreting them in light of the experiences, challenges, and strength of today\u2019s women.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    These two perspectives will converge towards a large central Nativity<\/strong>, designed as a symbol of continuity, unity, and dialogue between the sacred narrative and everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ephemeral art that defeats winter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As every year, the work will be brought to life by internationally renowned artists<\/strong>, who will transform tons of Friulian sand into monumental sculptures. The technique, using only compacted sand and water<\/strong>, allows for the creation of extremely fine details and scenes of great emotional impact, all protected by a large tensile structure set up on the Lungomare Trieste. Work begins between late October and early November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The event is organized by the Association Dome Aghe e Savalon d\u2019Aur<\/a>, in collaboration with Pro Loco Lignano<\/a>, Lignano in Fiore Onlus<\/a>, Lignano Sabbiadoro Gestioni, with the support of the City of Lignano Sabbiadoro<\/a> and the contribution \u2013 fundamental \u2013 of the local associations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
